It has been announced that the TV anime " The Ramparts of Ice, " based on the webtoon by Kocha Agasawa that was serialized on the digital manga service LINE Manga, will begin airing on TBS and other networks in April 2026. The main cast has also been announced, with Nagase Anna playing Hikawa Koyuki, Fuka Izumi playing Azumi Miki, Chiba Shoya Chiba playing Amemiya Minato, and Inomata Keiji playing Hino Yota. A teaser visual and promotional video featuring Hikawa Koyuki and other main characters have been released.
Nagase, who plays Hikawa Koyuki, a high school student who is not good at interacting with people and builds walls between herself and them, said, "I don't know if I can call it charm, but this was the first time I identified with a character and shed tears. The worries and conflicts, joys and pains of young people are portrayed in a delicate way. I felt like the drama had put into words the discomfort and frustration I felt as a middle and high school student, and I empathized strongly with the characters' emotions and thoughts. I was moved by the main characters' awkward interactions with each other and the disjointed distance between them, but still trying to get closer to each other one step at a time and connect with each other."
Izumi, who plays Azumi Miki, Koyuki's childhood friend and the school idol, said, "The work has so many charms that it's endless, like how you can like all the characters and how it's somehow stylish overall...! What I find particularly appealing is that there are so many parts I can relate to. The way emotions towards others are born, how we fall in love, and how we deal with ourselves are all portrayed with such a realistic texture that I can relate to. Chiba, who plays Amamiya Minato, a character who doesn't put up walls between himself and others, said, "The work delicately captures the emotional movements that make you empathize with how humans are. At the same time, there is an overall bright atmosphere, which is a strange balance, and the world view is wonderful, making you want to keep turning the pages. The atmosphere is natural because they don't try to force the characters to be well-defined in order to make a drama. I think the charm of this work is the careful and delicate psychological portrayal that makes you feel as if it's happening to you. The series has been viewed over 160 million times on LINE Manga, and has sold over 1.94 million copies of its comics. It was serialized from January 2020 to April 2022. Koyuki Koyuki is not good at interacting with people, and has built a wall between herself and others. In high school, she spends her time alone, with only her childhood friend, Miki Azumi, to connect with. However, she meets Minato Amemiya, who for some reason begins to close the gap between them, and Yota Hino, a laid-back and kind basketball club member.
