Actor Asuka Saito appeared at the preview screening of the movie "My Father and I's Never-ending Song" (to be released on May 23, directed by Norihiro Koizumi) held in Tokyo on April 23. Saito, who plays the "key man" in the story, who is a record company employee who encounters a video of Tetsuta (played by Akira Terao) on social media and proposes that he make his record debut, talked about his thoughts on the film.
After reading the script, Saito said, "I was deeply moved just by reading the words." He continued, "When I received the offer, everyone's appearances had already been decided. It was only a brief appearance, about one or two seconds on screen...But even so, it was a production that made me want to be in it, and want to see it as soon as possible. So I was able to participate in the production."
Terao, Tori Matsuzaka, Sato Shiori, Soejima Jun, Miyake Yuji, Ishikura Saburo, and Matsuzaka Keiko also appeared at the completion preview screening.
The film is based on a true story that began with a video posted on YouTube in the UK in 2016. The video depicts the bond between a father and son suffering from Alzheimer's disease, and has touched people all over the world.
The setting of this film has been changed to Japan, and it features a father and son who run a musical instrument store in Yokosuka. It depicts the touching story of how, with the support of their love and conflicts, and their family and friends, the father, who has Alzheimer's, tries to achieve his dream of making his record debut, a dream he gave up in his youth.
