Actor Dean Fujioka appeared on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) on December 15th. He talked about his mother's wishes, his diverse hobbies, and more.
He was born in Sukagawa City, Fukushima Prefecture. He is the eldest of four siblings, with two younger sisters two and 15 years younger than him, and a younger brother six or seven years younger than him. He studied abroad in the United States and has had a successful career in Asia, but says, "Since returning to Japan, we've become very close and often get together and talk."
"Now that we're both parents, we've realized how wonderful it is for siblings to get along well. All of us siblings remember our mother always saying, 'That's all I ask of you (siblings getting along)'. Those words have gradually had an effect on us in the years since," she says.
She has been studying ballet for about four years. "I'm not limited to classical ballet, but I think ballet is wonderful," she said. "I only do it when I have the time, but I enjoy it slowly. I look forward to every lesson." She shared her dream of "one day becoming a dancer, or rather, being able to go up on stage to dance."
When she wakes up in the morning, she always "drinks hot water and plays the piano to wake up her fingers." She says that she plays the piano "like a kind of wake-up exercise. I just do it for fun," and her other diverse hobbies include guitar, basketball, skiing, horseback riding, and the tea ceremony. When a video of her horseback riding was shown, she said with a smile, "You can ride a horse forever. I love it."
