It has been announced that Rina Honizumi will be appearing as Imoko in the TV anime "Yani Neko," which is based on the manga by Nyannyan Factory currently serialized in "Young Magazine" (Kodansha).
Imoko is Yanineko's younger sister, and her real name is Sato Imoko. She is a serious and responsible high school girl cat. Honizumi said, "I was honestly very happy. It was my first time voicing a character in a proper comedy, so I was very motivated. On the other hand, I was both excited and worried about how far we could go in terms of expression in an animated work (laughs). With compliance becoming stricter, I was thrilled about the challenge of turning this work into an anime. I am very happy that I was able to participate in creating this while adults were laughing hysterically and pouring their love into it."
"Yani Neko" is a manga depicting the daily life of "the most worthless cat." It has been serialized in the magazine since April 2023. The anime is directed by Taku Kimura, with Takashi Aoshima writing the script, Riki Matsuura designing the characters, and Keiichi Suzuki composing the music. It is being produced by Bibury Animation Studios.
Yuko Natsuyoshi will play Yanineko, and the cast also includes Misato Matsuoka as Yakuneko, Yurie Funato as Hameneko, Ayaka Shimizu as Kansaineko, Shiori Izawa as Aruneko, Riko Akechi as Ochinpo Tatsuro, and Tetsu Inada as the landlord. It will air on TOKYO MX and BS11 every Thursday at 12:30am starting July 2.
