It has been announced that a new anime series based on Shotaro Ishinomori's popular manga "Cyborg 009," titled "Cyborg 009 Nemesis," will be available on various video streaming services starting at midnight on July 19th. The new anime will consist of three episodes, all of which will be released at once on July 19th.
A key visual has been released featuring 009/Joe Shimamura and the other Zero-Zero number cyborgs, along with N009/Graviton and his Nemesis, a group formed to change the world with new power in their place. The visual hints at a 9-on-9 battle.
"Cyborg 009 Nemesis" tells the story of the Zero-Zero number cyborgs, who have protected humanity from various enemies threatening peace for over half a century since their creation. However, a group of nine cyborgs called Nemesis appear before them, believing that the 009s alone cannot lead the world to peace.
"Cyborg 009" is a manga that depicts the story of nine warriors, including Joe Shimamura, who are turned into cyborgs by the evil organization Black Ghost, and their fight for justice alongside Dr. Gilmore. The series began serialization in "Weekly Shonen King" (Shonen Gahosha) in 1964 and was also serialized in "Shonen Sunday" (Shogakukan) and "Monthly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha). In 2024, it celebrated its 60th anniversary, and in the same year, it was adapted into a stage play for the first time and remade as a vertical-reading full-color comic.
