Actor Honami Suzuki appeared at a talk show at the World Walnut Summit 2025 held in Tokyo on April 24th. Suzuki is such a big fan of walnut bread that she has declared that "the last thing I want to eat in my life is walnut bread," and she has served as a special judge for the Walnut Bread of the Year awards held by the California Walnut Board since 2010. When a California walnut producer who attended the talk show complimented her beauty by saying, "If you want to be as beautiful as Honami, eat walnuts," she blushed and laughed.
When asked about the appeal of walnuts, Suzuki said, "They have an indescribable chewiness. Chewing them stimulates the satiety center. They're natural, nutritious, and satisfying. What's more, I don't eat them for health reasons, I just eat them because they're delicious." She added with a smile, "If I leave them alone, I'll eat as many as I want."
The World Walnut Summit 2025 is a symposium organized by the California Walnut Board, which represents walnut growers and processors in California, USA, with the aim of deepening understanding of the nutritional value and health benefits of walnuts, and experiencing their deliciousness and various ways of using them. In addition to Suzuki, the talk show featured California walnut growers and Hirotaro Arii, CEO of Kamakura Beniya, which produces the baked walnut snack "Kurumikko."
