The full cast has been revealed for the WOWOW drama "Continuous Drama W-30 'ALIUS -Specific Incident Investigation File-'" (Sundays at 10 PM), starring Kuranosuke Sasaki, which will begin airing on July 19th. It has also been revealed that Takashi Yamanaka and others will be appearing in the drama.
"ALIUS" is a crime suspense series set in a world that is an extension of reality, revolving around a mysterious entity called ALIUS. The series of murders begins with the discovery of a gruesome murder victim in an underground parking garage with four knives stuck in their throat. Then, mysterious phrases such as "ALIUS LAB" and "They control Homo sapiens" are discovered one after another around the victims... While it is a thrilling entertainment series that depicts the unfolding of the serial murders, it also has aspects of a social drama that sharply examines the fragility and contradictions of the "advanced society" that humanity has built.
In addition to Yamanaka, the cast has been announced to include Hatsunori Hasegawa, Kenta Izuka, Ryo Ikeda, Yuya Matsuura, and Hiroshi Okochi. They will be playing characters rooted in the depths of society, such as a doctor who meets a mysterious death, a secretly operating public security detective, those surrounding an AI company, and a politician with political ambitions.
The key visual has also been released. "ALIUS" means "another" in Latin, and the tagline is "The suspect is something 'other' than humanity." The visual features Shogo Sano, a detective in the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's First Investigation Division played by Sasaki, Toru Kanzaki (Taishi Nakagawa), a researcher who joins Sano and his team in their investigation, and Anna Hazumi (Yuri Tsunematsu), a detective in the First Investigation Division who works alongside Sano as his right-hand woman to tackle difficult cases. The visual is striking with its digital noise-like distortion, desolate landscape, and the eerie presence of a mysterious figure.
