Freelance announcer Kazuo Tokumitsu will appear on BS12 TwellV's program "Tsurube-chan and Sawako-chan: A Great Senior from the Showa Era and the Strange Two," which will be broadcast from 9 p.m. on December 15th. Tokumitsu, now 84 years old, will talk about an unusual incident that occurred during his 62-year career as an announcer.
The show features guests each time, including two "Showa era greats" who call Tsurube Shofutei, who has 53 years of experience in the entertainment industry, and Sawako Agawa, who has 42 years of experience, "Tsurube-chan" and "Sawako-chan."
Tokumitsu, who has known Tsurube for over 50 years, talks about how the two became friends and their mutual friend, Senda Mitsuo. He also talks lovingly about "Mr." Shigeo Nagashima, whom Tokumitsu worships as a "god." He also reveals stories from his time at Rikkyo University, where he watched the Big Six University Baseball Tournament and enrolled in the hopes of becoming Nagashima's junior, as well as how he ended up taking the announcer exam.
He also touched on the topic of pro wrestling commentary, which he "didn't want to do" because he wanted to be a baseball commentator, and shared an episode about meeting Giant Baba, his mentor and the reason he found pro wrestling interesting. The preview reads, "Nagashima Shigeo, who supported Kazuo Tokumitsu's heart," and also shows Tokumitsu saying, "When I went to interview a wrestler, a bottle was thrown at me."
