The trailer for the movie "Omuta Atsushi's Youth" (directed by Seki Naoki), starring actress Kakei Miwako, was released on July 11. This is Kakei's first lead role in a movie.
The film is set in Omuta, Fukuoka Prefecture, and tells the story of an irreplaceable bond that is born from a chance encounter between adults who have stumbled in life and a girl who lives positively despite her illness. Kakei plays Igarashi Ami, a pastry chef who once gave up on opening a Western-style pastry shop, but now strives to make sweets again in pursuit of her dream. Other cast members include Fukuyama Shota as Takasugi Tsukasa, a young man who comes to a strange land hiding his past; Jinnai Takanori as Hiwatashi Shizuo, a man who lives in his car in secret; and Okuno Kaede as Hinako, a girl with type 1 diabetes.
The trailer begins with a scene of Ami going through trial and error to open a pastry shop. Shizuo, who lives in his car and has a secret past, and Tsukasa, who has been called upon to help Ami prepare for her shop opening, are joined by Hinako, who suffers from type 1 diabetes. The four, who are of different ages and backgrounds, support each other despite getting caught up in trouble, and live their lives with determination.
It was also announced that the theme song for this work will be sung by the artist duo "MisiiN". The theme song is a newly written song called "Heartache Homework". It was also revealed that Hayato Onozuka, Kanta Sato, and Koji Serizawa will appear in the film.
The film will be released in Fukuoka Prefecture on September 19th, and nationwide on the 26th.
