TV Tokyo's popular information variety show "Appear! Ad Street Heaven" (Saturday 9pm) will feature Kita-Senju (Adachi Ward, Tokyo) in the final chapter (fifth installment) of the Tobu Railway Line series on August 30th.
During the Edo period, Kita-Senju flourished as a post town on the Nikko Kaido road, and this year marks the 400th anniversary of its founding. Also, in 1899, Tobu Railway's first line opened between Kita-Senju and Kuki. Tobu Railway's website describes Kita-Senju Station as "the starting point where Tobu Railway was born." Today, the station is a huge terminal where five lines operated by four companies intersect, including the Tobu Isesaki Line (Skytree Line), the JR Joban Line, the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line and Chiyoda Line, and the Tsukuba Express.
The program features a variety of famous places and delicious food, including a public bathhouse famous for being the "King of Verandas," a restaurant specializing in meatballs and grated yam dishes, a Japanese restaurant and garden-hideaway bar in an old house that is a nationally registered tangible cultural property, edamame soybean and yakisoba bread at a discount shopping street, and a "roast beef bowl" from a supermarket selling handmade prepared foods.
In addition, there will also be a high-quality tuna chunk bowl, a limited-time offer of five super cheap lunches consisting of 10 pieces of sashimi plus unadon, Kansai-style kushikatsu and steamed meatballs from Bar Yokocho, and the specialty "Senjyuage."
