A new work of the popular manga "Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube", written by Sho Makura and illustrated by Takeshi Okano, serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha), titled "Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube Kai", began serialization in the June issue of the manga magazine "Saikyō Jump" (Shueisha), released on May 2nd. This is the first time in about four years that a new work of "Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube" has been serialized, since "Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube S", which was serialized in the same magazine from 2018 to 2021. The work has also been talked about as being the first new anime to be produced in about 26 years since the OVA (original video animation) "Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube: The Greatest Battle in History! Zetsuki Raishū!!" released in 1999, and the manga has also been revived. The first nine pages of the first episode have been released.
In the new story "Kai", Nube fights fiercely across time and space to save a student trapped in a world of ghost stories. In the first episode, "Sakaku", who was supposed to have been sealed away by Nube before, is revived and kidnaps Inaba Goko who is fighting with Tatsuno Hiroshi. A special one-shot story "Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube Tales", which is a prequel to "Kai", has been released on the official website of "Saikyō Jump".
Following "Kai," a new series "Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube PLUS" will begin serialization on Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump+" on May 14th, and the launch of two new series is also a hot topic.
"Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube" was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from 1993 to 1999. The story is about a young teacher, Meisuke Nueno(Nube), who is assigned to Domori Elementary School and solves a series of incidents with the power of the "demon hand" that resides in his left arm. The official sequel, "Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube NEO", was serialized in "Grand Jump" (same publisher) from 2014 to 2018, and "Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube S" was serialized in "Saikyō Jump" (same publisher) from 2018 to 2021. The total number of copies of the series published is approximately 29 million.
The TV anime series was broadcast from 1996 to 1997, and was also made into an OVA and a feature film. In 2014, a TV drama starring Ryuhei Maruyama was broadcast.
The new anime is also attracting attention because Ryotaro Okiayu , who played the main character Meisuke Nueno in the TV anime, movie anime, and OVA that aired from 1996 to 1997, will reprise his role. The first episode will be a one-hour special, broadcast on TV Asahi from 11:15 pm on July 2nd. Subsequent episodes will be broadcast in TV Asahi's anime slot "IMAnimation W." The series will be split into two seasons, with the second season starting in January 2026.
