Asami Rei, a former top star of the Takarazuka Revue's Snow Troupe and an actor with 55 years of experience, will appear on Kuroyanagi Tetsuko's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which will be broadcast at 1:00 p.m. on December 11th.
Born in a downtown area, his parents' home is located inside the torii gate of Kanda Myojin Shrine in Tokyo. He hated being in front of people and entered the Takarazuka Music School with the sole desire to get away from his parents. He wasn't originally interested in Takarazuka, so he skipped dance and Japanese dance classes and was scolded by his teacher, but after seeing the upperclassmen perform "West Side Story," he began to think, "I want to be a male role that suits a tailcoat."
Her father fell ill early and was bedridden, so she never got to see him perform on stage, but her mother was delighted, saying, "He looks just like his father when he was young." At the age of 45, she married her husband, with whom she has two children. Her son, who was in elementary school at the time, didn't call her "Mom," but instead called her "Turko-san" as a nickname, and she even woke up at 5am to prepare his lunch. Both are now in their 40s and have their own families, so she says she can now relax.
