The ninth episode of the TBS Friday drama "Fake Mummy" (Fridays at 10 PM), starring actors Haru and Rina Kawaei, aired on December 5th. The acting of Mitsuhashi Foods president Shingo Motohashi (played by Masaru Kasamatsu) as he flirts with Iroha (played by Aoi Ikemura) drew ire from viewers, who commented that he was "seriously gross" and "truly trashy."

After a DNA test, Shingo discovered he was the biological father of his ex-girlfriend Maika's (Kawaei) daughter, Iroha. He handed Iroha a letter that read, "I have something important to tell you about Mom. I'll be waiting in front of your apartment at midnight on November 4th. Don't tell anyone and come out. From Dad."
Unable to find out from Makaie who her father was, Iroha made up her mind and got into Shingo's car, which was parked in front of the apartment building.
"Welcome," Shingo said, giving Iroha a sparkling hair accessory and praising her for being "so cute." He gave her a variety of clothes, saying, "Everything here is a present for you, Iroha. I think it will look good on you." He then invited her, "If there's anything else you want, just let me know. Oh, by the way, how about we go out for some delicious French food sometime?"
He then got to the point, saying, "Today, I came to talk to Iroha about something secret," and explained that the shareholders' meeting was coming up soon, and if things continued as they were, Mamie would be fired as president. "But if you promise to come to see me, maybe that won't happen. Become a member of the Motohashi family," he pressured.
Social media was abuzz with comments such as, "Motohashi Shingo is gross as Merge," "Shingo is such a jerk...," "Motohashi Shingo probably wasn't loved. Poor guy," "Motohashi Shingo is really a jerk. To swear to such a small child," and "The reason I'm so angry about Motohashi's role is because he's such a good actor."
