It has recently been announced that actress Moka Kamishiraishi will appear in the NHK Drama 10 series "Dangerous" (NHK General, Tuesdays at 10 PM), starring Riho Yoshioka, which will begin airing in January 2027. She will play Chiyoko, who becomes the mother-in-law of Shigeko (Yoshioka), the model for the protagonist of Junichiro Tanizaki's masterpiece "The Makioka Sisters."
"Dangerous" is based on the novel of the same name (Chuko Bunko) by Natsuo Kirino, which depicts the lives of Tanizaki and the women surrounding him. It is a story of "love and desire" of women who lived "dangerous" lives. Joe Odagiri plays Tanizaki, and Yuri Nakamura plays Matsuko, Shigeko's older sister and Tanizaki's wife.
Kamishiraishi plays Chiyoko, a young bride who brings a breath of fresh air to the Tanizaki household. Her husband is Seiichi, the son of Matsuko (Nakamura) from her previous marriage, who later becomes Shigeko's adopted son. After her marriage, Chiyoko comes to live at Senkan-tei, where Shigeko, Tanizaki, and Matsuko live. Tanizaki finds the intelligent and outspoken Chiyoko amusing, and their relationship gradually deepens. Inoue Yuki plays Chiyoko's husband, Seiichi.
It was also announced that Shohei Uno will play Shigeko's husband, Hiroshi Tanabe; Rin Kataoka will play Matsuko and Shigeko's younger sister, Nobuko; Haruka Imou will play Mieko, Matsuko's daughter from her previous marriage and Seiichi's younger sister; and Daikichi Sugawara will play Yasuaki Matsudaira, Hiroshi Tanabe's older brother.
The drama's script will be primarily written by Ikue Nagata, who also wrote the NHK Asadora drama "Ranman" and the drama series "Tsubame wa Mododokonai," with contributions from Yoko Yoneuchi, Aya Takaba, and Yuki Matsumoto.
