A conversation was held between Junya Enoki , who plays Yuji Itadori , and Daisuke Namikawa , who plays Choso , in the anime " Jujutsu Kaisen ," which is based on the popular manga by Gege Akutami that was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha), and they talked about the relationship between Itadori and Choso.
--In the Shibuya Incident, Choso initially viewed Itadori as an enemy, seeing him as the "enemy of his younger brother," but eventually came to protect him as his "younger brother."
Namikawa-san , after such a fierce battle, the sudden change in his attitude made me feel that he must have very strong feelings towards his brother. Choso is a very straightforward person who is able to put his thoughts into action, so there's a side to him that you can't hate. His emotions are very easy to understand while acting, so I think I was able to do it without worrying too much about the emotional side. In the sense that his feelings are expressed literally, I think he's an easier character to understand than the other magicians.
After Enoki-san accepted Itadori as his "younger brother,"Choso stayed by Itadori 's side even at the beginning of this episode, " Culling Game ," when he was in a tough mental state. At first, Fushiguro wasn't there, so if Itadori had acted alone, he might have gone in a negative direction. Setting aside whether he was an older brother or not, I think it was a blessing for Itadori to have someone like that by his side, and that it saved him.
--Zen'in Naoya and Choso have contrasting views on brothers, but how did you feel about those differences?
I can only say that the only thing I can sympathize with is Choso 'Choso view of brothers (laughs).
Enoki- san, Naoya completely underestimates his older brothers. I can't help but feel the same way (laughs). In that context, Choso's line, "I have to keep walking in front of my younger brothers. That's why I'm strong," was a great one.
Namikawa-san, that line was great. Doing your best for your blood brother. What's more, I thought it was great that his technique uses blood. Choso may seem clumsy, but he casually says cool lines like that. I think it's amazing that he can say things like, "I care about my younger brother" or "My older brother is important."
"Jujutsu Kaisen" is a manga that was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from March 2018 to September 2024. The story follows high school student Yuji Itadori, who is thrown into a world of battles over curses after a powerful "cursed object" is unsealed. The comic series has sold over 100 million copies in total.
The first season of the TV anime aired from October 2020 to March 2021, and the second season, "Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu/ Shibuya Incident," aired from July to December 2023. The third season, "Culling Game Part 1," will be broadcast nationwide simultaneously on the MBS/TBS anime block "Super Animeism TURBO" every Thursday at 12:26 a.m. starting January 8, 2026.
