It has been announced that Makoto Kaneko and Atsushi Kosaka will be appearing as voice actors in the TV anime "CITY THE ANIMATION," based on the manga "CITY" by Keiichi Arawi, who is also known for "Nichijou" and other works. Kaneko will play Obina Hayashido of CITY Minami Eleven, and Kosaka will play Kurogane Yamato. "CITY THE ANIMATION" is produced by Kyoto Animation, just like "Nichijou," and it is also a hot topic that this is the first time the company has produced a new anime, excluding sequels, in about six years.
Kaneko commented, "I gave my all to become a resident of the town, and throughout all of the recording I did my best to hold back my laughter. This town is very warm, unique and kind...and yet it also has a somewhat harsh side; it is a mysterious place filled with such a unique worldview. Takasaka said, "I played the role of Kurogane and various other residents of 'CITY'. The staff's passion was incredible. The actors were just as passionate. The recording set was like heaven and hell. You have to read the atmosphere, not the lines. Each person doesn't come up with the right answer. We all come up with one right answer. When you fall, you fall forward! I wasn't thinking about anything like that. It was just a fun recording set. The characters are charming and everyone is positive. I'm sure those who watch it will feel lighter. Please look forward to it."
"CITY" is a manga that was serialized in "Morning" (Kodansha) from 2016 to 2021. It depicts the lives of some slightly unusual people living in an ordinary "CITY", including penniless college student Nagumo Mitori, Nikura, and Izumi Wako.
The anime will be directed by Ishidate Taichi, known for "Beyond the Boundary" and "Violet Evergarden," and produced by Kyoto Animation, the studio behind the "Nichijou" TV anime. Mikako Komatsu will play the protagonist Nagumo Mitori, Aki Toyosaki play the protagonist's friend Nikura, and Ishikawa Yui will play Izumi Wako, the most mysterious character in the series. It will begin airing on ABC TV, TOKYO MX, and other channels from July 6.
