It has been announced that the popular band Mrs. Green Apple will be performing the opening theme "lulu." for the second season of the TV anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End," which is based on the manga currently being serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" (Shogakukan). The opening theme "lulu." is a newly written song, and a snippet of the song was revealed in the new anime PV posted on YouTube.
Mrs. Green Apple's Motoki Omori commented, "I'm honored because I've loved the original work and have read it. The song 'lulu.' depicts the strength of passing on life, treasures, memories, and will from person to person, connecting them to the present and then to the tomorrow. It depicts the strength of moving forward with one's hometown in one's heart. As a fan of ' Frieren: Beyond Journey's End,' I can't wait to see the many scenes that will be portrayed this season. I hope you will also enjoy 'lulu.'."
The released trailer also features the "Hero of the South," who was hailed as "the strongest man in humanity" and who once fought against the Demon King's army, and it was also announced that Kazuhiko Inoue will be voicing him. Inoue said, "I'm honored to be able to take part in ' Frieren: Beyond Journey's End.' I played the role of the Hero of the South. I didn't have many lines, so it was a difficult role. He's a man with quiet resolve. I played him in a way that would make people think, 'I see,' afterwards."
"Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" is a manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Sunday in April 2020.
