NHK announcer Risa Hayashida will be interviewing pianist Hayato Sumino on the interview program "Interview Kokokara" (General), which will be broadcast on NHK General TV from 7:30 am on January 12th. Hayashida, who proposed the project and served as the interviewer, reflected on the recording, saying, "It was a time that made me think about what it means to be unique!"
Kadono composed and performed the theme song for "Saturday Watch 9," a program hosted by Caster. In the program, he talks about his thoughts on his past activities, including his time as a student at the University of Tokyo when he was unsure of his future, what he gained from competing in the Chopin International Piano Competition, a gateway for young pianists, moving to New York in search of "unique music," and performing at Carnegie Hall, the "Hall of Fame for Music," as well as his future plans.
Hayashida, who has been playing the piano since she was a child, revealed, "I first met her five years ago. When she performed on a live radio show, she started with game music and then seamlessly moved on to Chopin's pieces... I was shocked by the 'Kadono world' and wanted to find out how she came up with the ideas that flow like a fountain."
She continued, "The words she spun in response to my questions were carefully considered. Behind her continuing to break new ground, she also faced worries and crossroads that many people will be able to relate to." She continued, "And, having made her debut at Carnegie Hall, the highest hall of fame in music, at the age of 30, I wondered how big her future prospects were, but to my surprise... It was a time that made me think about what it means to be unique!"
