NHK's history program "History Detective" (General Channel) will air "Takenaka Hanbei and Kuroda Kanbei: An Untold Tearful Bond" on June 17th at 10 PM. The program will feature Takenaka Hanbei and Kuroda Kanbei, two warlords whose exploits were depicted in the network's historical drama "BROTHERS IN ARMS (Toyotomi Brothers!)" and have become a hot topic.
Hanbei and Kanbei. Both are known as "military strategists" who supported Hideyoshi's rise to power. And for a brief period of about two years, they fought together. This time, we thoroughly investigated their achievements, based on the latest research findings, including the excavation of Bodaiyama Castle, which Hanbei ruled, and the water siege of Bitchu Takamatsu Castle, in which Kanbei was also involved, to answer two questions: "Was Takenaka Hanbei truly a military strategist?" and "What is the truth behind Kuroda Kanbei's water siege of Bitchu Takamatsu Castle?"
Then, it becomes clear that behind these achievements lay a little-known, deep bond between the two. This bond would eventually create a major ripple effect that would influence the outcome of the Battle of Sekigahara...
