It has been announced that the 2nd Season of the TV anime "Black Clover," based on the manga by Yuki Tabata, will begin airing in October on TV Tokyo and other networks. This will be the first new TV anime in approximately five years since the previous series aired from 2017 to 2021. It was also announced that Ayataka Tanemura, who directed the 1st Season of the TV anime and the theatrical film "Black Clover: The Magic Emperor's Sword," will continue as director.
Director Tanemura contributed an illustration of the main character, Asta, and commented, "I'm directing again! Asta and the others are coming back after a long time! We're working beyond our limits to show them an even more powerful version of themselves! Please support Asta and the others as they embark on their new adventures!!"
It was also announced that a panel event for the 2nd season will be held on July 4th (local time) at "Anime Expo 2026," an anime event to be held in Los Angeles, USA. Gakuto Kajiwara, who plays Asta, and director Tanemura will be in attendance.
A special video summarizing the first season in approximately 10 minutes has been released on YouTube. This video was previously only shown at the "Black Clover Exhibition" held in Tokyo and Osaka from March to May of this year, and is now also available on YouTube.
"Black Clover" is set in a world where magic exists, and follows Asta, a boy born without the ability to use magic, as he aims to become the Wizard King. The series began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) in February 2015 and moved to "Jump GIGA" (Shueisha) in December 2023. The final chapter was published in the magazine on May 1st, bringing its approximately 11-year run to a close. The comic books have sold over 24.5 million copies worldwide.
The TV anime aired from 2017 to 2021 and gained popularity overseas. The theatrical anime film "Black Clover: The Magic Emperor's Sword," released in June 2023, also generated buzz. The 2nd Season will be animated by Studio Pierrot, the same studio that produced the previous TV anime series and the theatrical film.
