Magician Mr. Maric and magician Maggie Shiro appeared on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) on April 21st. The two, who have been best friends for 50 years, showed great chemistry.
Since fingertips are the most visible part of the body, Maric said he was going to get his nails done. When Maggie said "I'll go too," Maric was surprised, but they went together to get their nails done.
When asked about his dreams for the future, Maggie replied, "As long as Malick is healthy, I think I'll continue to follow him." Malick responded, "I want to nurture young people and raise the stars of the next generation."
The two first met about 60 years ago, when they studied at the same school and held a recital. They were using their real names at the time, so they only realized it later. When asked why they get along so well, they cited their different styles of comedy. When asked about the secret to their friendship, Maggie said, "I guess it's trust," to which Maric replied, "I admire Maggie's humor. We respect each other."
Malick further praised him, saying, "Maggie practices in the wings of the stage. Her magic tricks may look easy, but they are actually incredibly meticulous. She practices even the most mysterious tricks that make you wonder if they really need practicing." Maggie responded by showing her respect, saying, "It's scary (if you don't practice). Malick practices a lot, after all. Seeing that makes me feel like I need to practice too."
