Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025, a festival featuring cast and production staff from the popular sci-fi film series Star Wars and exciting fans from all over the world, opened on April 18th at Makuhari Messe (Mihama-ku, Chiba City).
On the first day, the 18th, Jon Favreau, director of the film "Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu," scheduled for release next year, and Dave Filoni, executive producer and director of the live-action drama "The Mandalorian," appeared. Cast member Sigourney Weaver also came to Japan and appeared on stage. The film will be released simultaneously in Japan and the United States on May 22, 2026.
Prior to the "Mandalorian & Grogu" event, the new Star Wars: Starfighter, scheduled for release in the US on May 28, 2027, was announced, and lead actor Ryan Gosling also appeared on stage.
"Star Wars Celebration" is a large-scale fan event that was first held in the United States in 1999 and has been held 15 times in the UK, Germany, Japan, and other countries. This will be the second time it is held in Japan in 17 years. This time, actor Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin, and Anthony Daniels, who played C-3PO, are scheduled to attend.
