An advance preview of the original TV anime "MIRU: My Future," produced and produced by Yanmar Holdings, was held on March 27th at Animate Theater (Toshima-ku, Tokyo), where Director and CBO Akihiro Nagaya appeared. He spoke about the concept of the original anime and the attention to detail in the design of the robot MIRU that appears in the work.
The series is an omnibus of five episodes that depicts the struggles of people trying to change the status quo, but who grow through their interactions with the robot MIRU and take a step towards a better future. Each of the five episodes will be produced by a different director and production studio. Masuro Ueda, known for his work on anime series such as Mobile Suit Gundam III: Encounters in Space in Space, Galaxy Drifter Vifam, and City Hunter, will serve as general producer.
Nagaya said that he aimed to make "Miru Watashi no Mirai" "not just a promotional anime, but one that will remain in anime history." He explained that the key points in the production were that a production committee was not formed, and that by having five animation studios each produce an episode, "we wanted to highlight the artistry and originality of each studio." Furthermore, although it is a robot anime, he said that he expressed the "Yanmar-ness" by featuring robots that do not fight or carry weapons but help people.
The company's product designers were involved in the design of the robot, and the company's logo is designed on the robot's face. Nagaya said, "We put a lot of effort into the design of the robot. It has a common taste with the design of industrial machinery."
Also appearing at the event was Norio Kashima, director of Episode 079 "Stardust Memory" produced by LinQ. The main character of this episode is Yoshimura, a space cleaner who has been involved in space debris collection work for 10 years. Director Kashima, who has been involved in various robot anime up until now, said, "This is my first attempt. I've made fighting robots, so I've had robots as weapons, but this time there's no element of that. A tractor flies through the sky and collects trash. I wondered where I could make it flashy."
Coach Kashima said he paid particular attention to the robot's movement in grabbing the debris, explaining, "I want it to grab it like it's grabbing an egg. It can't break, because if it does, the rubbish will all over the place. I really want to smash it with a bang, but I want it to grab the egg with a soft, firm grip."
At the event, a question was raised about why there was no episode featuring Yanbo and Mabo in the five episodes, to which Nagaya replied, "In fact, Yanbo and Mabo do appear. I want you to watch all five episodes carefully. They've prepared them properly. They play all kinds of pranks."
Voice actors Romi Park and Natsu Yoda, who appear in Episode 926 "Wait for Me, I'm Coming", also appeared at the event.
The anime will be broadcast on MBS and TOKYO MX starting from April 2nd.
