WOWOW will premiere the film "Moon" (2023) and the stage play "Orlando" (2024), both starring Rie Miyazawa, on television in February 2025. In addition, to commemorate the premiere, WOWOW will also feature Miyazawa's films and stage plays.
"Moon" is a film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Tsune Henmi, which is based on a real-life murder case involving a disabled person. The film was directed by Yuya Ishii, director of "The Great Passage" (2013), and stars Joe Odagiri, Hayato Isomura, and Fumi Nikaido, and swept the domestic film awards. It will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW Cinema and WOWOW On Demand from 9:00 pm on February 16th.
"Orlando" is a stage adaptation of the novel by British author Virginia Woolf. It features a cast of talented actors including Eiji Wentz, Yamato Kawachi, Ayumu Tanida, and Hajime Yamazaki. It will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW Live and WOWOW On Demand from 8:00 pm on February 8th.
In addition, a special feature on Miyazawa Rie will be held, entitled "A special feature on the actress's appeal in her new film and on stage." It will feature Miyazawa's past performances, including the stage production "Steam from the Invisible Man" (2004), written and directed by Noda Hideki and co-starring Abe Sadao, as well as the films "Erotic Relationship" (1992), "Invitation from the Orion Theater" (2007), "Paper Moon" (2014), and "Hot Water" (2016).
