70-year-old violinist Atsuko Tenma will appear on Kuroyanagi Tetsuko's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which will be broadcast at 1:00 p.m. on January 21st.
He was entrusted with the Romanian untold song "Ballad of Nostalgia" by an exiled musician and introduced it to Japan, becoming an unprecedented hit in the classical music world. Since then, he has given over 100 concerts a year, but in 2022 he suddenly lost control of his body and was hospitalized for tests. He was diagnosed with a cervical spine injury and underwent emergency surgery.
He was hospitalized for a few days for tests, but ended up staying for five months. After the surgery, he had to stay in complete bed rest, and it was several months before he was able to hold a pencil again. He briefly considered retiring, but thanks to the encouragement of those around him and his desire to "play again at a place that holds so many memories," he was able to make a comeback. Twelve bolts were inserted into his neck, which immobilizes it, and this affects his playing, but he says he still wants to continue making music.
