The visual of the poster made "exclusively for Japan" for Disney Animation's "Zootopia 2" (directed by Jared Bush, released December 5th) was released on October 21st. Japan is the only country for which an original poster will be produced for this film.
This film is the sequel to "Zootopia," which was released in 2016. The previous film, "Zootopia," was set in Zootopia, a world where animals live in a high-tech civilized society like humans. It depicted Judy meeting Nick and overcoming many challenges together as she grows into a fine police officer. It was the first Disney animation film since "Frozen" to surpass $1 billion in global box office revenue. It was also a huge hit in Japan, grossing over 7.6 billion yen.
In the sequel, Nick, who has successfully graduated from the police academy and become a police officer, and Judy, the first rabbit police officer to do her job, team up again and embark on an epic adventure. A new character, Gary the snake, also appears.
In the Japanese version, actress Aya Ueto will voice the rabbit police officer Judy, just like in the previous film, and voice actor Toshiyuki Morikawa will voice the fox Nick. In addition, voice actor Hiro Shimono has been chosen to play Gary, the wanted snake who holds the key to Zootopia's biggest mystery.
The poster released this time is an original Japanese poster that builds anticipation for the new adventure that Judy and Nick will embark on. The visual shows Judy happily pulling Nick's shoulder, while Nick responds with a cold yet somehow gentle expression, giving us a glimpse into the bond between the two who once solved a case together.
This time, the pair are drawn into the mystery behind the birth of Zootopia, triggered by the sudden appearance of a mysterious snake named Gary in Zootopia, a place supposedly inhabited only by mammals. Unexplored areas, such as the ocean and snowy mountains, are shown, suggesting that the pair will run around Zootopia and encounter various challenges. Will Judy and Nick be able to overcome "Zootopia's greatest crisis" and safely restore peace to Zootopia?
In addition to Gary the snake, the visual also features new characters joining the group, such as Nibbles the beaver, who is knowledgeable about reptiles and helps Judy and Nick with his vast knowledge; Paubert, the lynx heir to the family that founded Zootopia; Russ the walrus, who appears in Marsh Market, a new town inhabited by semi-aquatic animals; and Winddancer the horse, who is the new mayor of Zootopia.
Additionally, the latest visuals feature signs paying homage to real companies and brands such as JCB and NewDays in the city streets of Zootopia, lined with uniquely shaped buildings. Posters with homage advertisements have only been produced in Japan, with the US headquarters creating signs based on the concept, "What if JCB and NewDays existed in the world of Zootopia?" In the previous film, Zootopia delighted fans with fun surprises that featured numerous homages to real companies, brands, movies, and more. We can expect to see a number of playful scenes in the latest film that can only be enjoyed in the world of Zootopia, where animals live like humans.
