The synopsis and still images for the final episode of the Fuji TV Getsuku drama "Saba-can, Uchuu e Iku" (Mondays at 9pm), starring actor Takumi Kitamura , have been released. The episode will air on June 22nd.
Fifteen years have passed since Shunichi Asano (played by Kitamura) was appointed as a new teacher at Wakasa Fisheries High School. The "Space Food Mackerel Can Project," which his students had been carrying on, had been certified by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), and the time was finally approaching when their dream would become a reality. It had been decided that "Space Food Mackerel Cans" would be loaded onto a resupply ship launched from the JAXA Tanegashima Space Center bound for the International Space Station (ISS)!
Asano wanted to show the canned mackerel that was launched into space to the "5th generation" members who were involved in its development: Ayaka Fujikura (Anji Ikehata), Yui Mizutani (Kotona Minami), Noa Kise (Nijiko Aoto), and Misaki Sakuraba (Mako Yokota).
Then, Michio Hamanaka (played by Hiroki Miyake) and Kazuko (played by Eri Murakawa) brought a donation to Asano. It was collected from the townspeople and was filled with the heartfelt desire to "send the students off together."
Inspired by their feelings, Asano and the 5th generation students headed to Tanegashima. However, upon arriving in Tanegashima, they received an unexpected message from Makoto Kijima (Ryunosuke Kamiki) of JAXA.
Meanwhile, Nami Sugawara (Natsuki Deguchi), one of the first members to launch the project and now a teacher at Wakasa Obama High School, began to speak to Asano, who was being transferred from the school to the Board of Education, saying, "I haven't really told you properly yet, Sensei."
After 15 years and overcoming numerous challenges, this canned mackerel is finally heading towards space, carrying the hopes and dreams of everyone involved. And now, the moment has finally arrived when astronauts will taste it...
The drama is an original coming-of-age story based on the true story of students at a fisheries high school in Fukui Prefecture who challenged themselves to achieve their big dream of "developing space food."
