It has been revealed that Ayami Nakajo and Hayato Sano, who played original members of the drama series, will appear in the third theatrical film in the popular series "TOKYO MER: The Running Emergency Room" starring actor Ayami Nakajo Suzuki, titled "TOKYO MER: The Running Emergency Room - CAPITAL CRISIS" (releasing August 21). With this, all of the "original members" will be reunited, and it has also been announced that Jesse (Hayato Sano), who has appeared in the first theatrical film, will be continuing in his role.
"TOKYO MER: The Mobile Emergency Room" is a full-fledged medical drama depicting a professional emergency medical team called "TOKYO MER," newly established by order of the Tokyo Governor. The TV series aired on TBS's "Sunday Theater" slot (Sundays at 9 PM) in July 2021, and a special drama aired in 2023. Theatrical films were also released in 2023 and 2025, becoming huge hits with box office revenues of approximately 4.53 billion yen and 5.29 billion yen respectively.
In the drama series, Nakajo plays Tsurumaki Hina, who is assigned to "TOKYO MER" as a medical intern. Despite her doubts, she gains experience as a doctor in many challenging situations and grows into a fine second-in-command. This time, she appears as the chief doctor of "Osaka MER".
Sano plays Tokumaru Genichi, a clinical engineer and paramedic who is in charge of maintaining medical equipment and ER cars. In the previous film, "Nankai Mission," he obtained a nursing license. This time, he will be skillfully operating the ER car "NG1" at "Nagoya MER."
Jesse plays Tomohiro Shiomi, a medical intern who joined "TOKYO MER" in the first movie as Hina's junior. In the previous film, "South Sea Mission," he showed the demeanor of a reliable doctor, but this time he will appear as the second doctor at "Sapporo MER."
◇Comment from Ayami Nakajo Tsurumaki
Five years have already passed since the 2021 drama, and I'm truly grateful to all the fans for your continued support over the years.
I recently received a fan letter addressed to Ms. Hina from a little girl, and it made me realize once again how much her work is loved by so many people. In addition to expressing my gratitude and support for healthcare workers, I hope that this work can convey the message that each individual's actions can save lives. Please also look forward to seeing how Hina has grown up!
◇Comment from Hayato Sano, who plays the role of Motoichi Tokumaru
I am very happy to be able to participate again in the "TOKYO MER" series, which began five years ago. It is an honor to be able to return to this world once more, as it is a work that has been loved for so long.
And most importantly, I was so happy to be able to reunite with the cast and crew again, and memories of that time naturally came flooding back when we were on set. Please look forward to the even more powerful energy and teamwork of MER.
◇Comment from Jesse (SixTONES), who plays the role of Tomohiro Shiomi
I am grateful to have been invited back as a member of Team MER. Not only for Team MER, but personally, I felt a range of emotions while reading the script, wondering how Shiomi would grow! Many unexpected events occur in each scene, and they overcome difficulties! I am sure that this will give MER fans more excitement and emotion than ever before!
What kind of instructions will Chief Kitami give this time? TOKYO MER is sure to move your heart.
