The program "Legendary Concert - Sawada Kenji," which brings back a 1989 live performance by singer and actor Sawada Kenji in a remastered version equivalent to 4K quality, will be broadcast on NHK BS from 7:30 pm on Getsuku.
Even now, at the age of 77, Sawada continues to deliver her voice to fans across the country, and in October 1989 she performed live with her new backing band, "JAZZ MASTER." With Yoshida Ken on bass, Murakami "Ponta" Shuichi on drums, Shibayama Kazuhiko on guitar, and Asamoto Hirofumi on keyboards, the passionate performance, featuring a tight rock sound, fully conveyed the charm of "Julie" as a vocalist that cannot be seen on television music programs.
In addition to hits such as "Casablanca Dandy," "As Time Goes By," and "Stripper," the show will also feature songs written by a stellar lineup of songwriters, including Motoharu Sano, Yumi Matsutoya, Kiyoshiro Imawano, and Yosui Inoue. The varied set list is sure to be a highlight, and the show is said to be a rare opportunity to see the band again since the original concert was broadcast.
