"Drama 1 Week" brings you the latest drama news from the past week. This time (January 3-9), the topics covered include Yuki Yoda's role as Ayaka, the younger sister of the mysterious woman, Kogo Ichika, in the TBS Sunday Theatre "Reboot," and Asuka Saito's first appearance in an NHK drama. The two-part series will cover these topics.
On January 6th, it was announced that Yuki Yoda will be appearing in the TBS Sunday Theatre drama "Reboot" (Sundays at 9 PM), starring Suzuki Ryohei. She will play Ayaka, the younger sister of the mysterious woman, Kogo Ichika (Toda Erika). This will be Yoda's first appearance in a TBS drama series since the October 2021 Sunday Theatre drama "Japan Sinks: Hope's Man." The drama is a suspense story about a kind-hearted pastry chef, Hayase Riku (Suzuki), who is framed for the murder of his wife, but abandons his beloved family and past to pose as corrupt Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department detective Gido Ayumu in order to prove his innocence and find the real culprit. Other cast members include Toda as Kogo Ichika, a certified public accountant who helps Hayase impersonate Gido, and Nagase Ren as Fuyuhashi Wataru, an employee of the NPO "Shelter" who does the dirty work for the underground organization. The drama begins on January 18th.
On the 7th, it was revealed that Yuna Taira will be appearing in the Fuji TV " Getsuku " drama "Yandoku!" (Mondays at 9 PM), starring Kanna Kanna Hashimoto , which begins airing on January 12th. She will play Hotta Maria, a fellow delinquent and best friend of Hashimoto's protagonist, Kotoha Tagami. A visual of the trio of best friends, including Rena Joshima (played by Rio Uchida), giving each other dirty looks was also released. The drama is an original work based on a real-life doctor, with the screenplay written by Nonji Nemoto, who also wrote the NHK Asadora drama "Omusubi," starring Hashimoto. Hashimoto and Taira also starred in the films "Miracle" (directed by Hirokazu Koreeda, 2011) and "Omusubi."
On the 7th, five new cast members were announced for the NHK Taiga drama "Toyotomi Brothers!" (General TV, Sundays at 8 PM and other times), starring Taiga Nakano. It was revealed that Masaki Suda will play the legendary military strategist, Hanbei Takenaka. Suda, who is close friends with Nakano, said, "A Taiga drama starring Taiga Nakano. I couldn't be happier. I've watched him rise to the top like the Toyotomi brothers for the past decade. I'm incredibly blessed to be able to accompany him to one of those great peaks as Hanbei Takenaka." Danko Ichikawa will play Ranmaru Mori, a page serving Oda Nobunaga; Motoki Nakazawa will play Nobukatsu Oda, Nobunaga's younger brother who plots a rebellion; Motoki Nakazawa will play Nobuzumi Oda, Nobukatsu's eldest son who later becomes Mitsuhide Akechi's son-in-law; and Nobunaga Daichi will play Nagayoshi Asano, who later becomes Nagamasa Asano and is one of the five magistrates of the Toyotomi government.
On the 8th, it was announced that Asuka Saito will be appearing in the NHK drama series "The Uncertain Court of Themis" (General TV, Tuesdays at 10pm), starring Kenichi Matsuyama. This will be Saito's first NHK drama. The series is based on a unique legal mystery by Sho Naoshima. Saito will play Aki Yoshizawa, the daughter of Kazuma Akiba, who was executed for the "Maebashi Family Murder Case," and will appear in the fourth episode. Saito's acting, which even brought her co-stars to tears, is said to get to the heart of the story.
On the 8th, Nanako Matsushima attended a press conference held at TV Asahi (Minato Ward, Tokyo) for the drama "Okome no Onna - National Tax Agency Materials Investigation Division, Miscellaneous Affairs Room" (TV Asahi, Thursdays 9 PM), which starts that evening. She shared a heartwarming story about her husband, Takashi Sorimachi. This season, Sorimachi is also starring in the Fuji TV drama "Ramune Monkey" (Wednesdays 10 PM, starting January 14th). She revealed, "(From the set) I get work-related messages like, 'Are you late today?', 'What time are you working until today?', 'Are you eating dinner?' (laughs). We talk like that, saying, 'Let's both do our best,'" she revealed, bringing a sense of humor to the press conference.
Neru Nagahama also appeared at the press conference for "Okome no Onna - National Tax Agency Document Investigation Division, Miscellaneous Affairs Room -." When she mentioned an episode in which Nagahama took home the rice balls that Matsushima had made during the filming, Hayato Sano retorted, "What are you doing!?" Nagahama explained, "When I was alone (on set), there were rice balls that Matsushima had made near where I usually wait, and I asked, 'Can I have these?' (laughs)." Afterwards, when asked about her goals for this year, she revealed, "I don't usually cook properly (laughs)," and continued, "I usually get a bento lunch on set and eat it when I get home, but this year I want to cook properly."
On the 8th, Kanna Hashimoto appeared at a press conference in Tokyo for the Fuji TV "Getsuku" drama "Yangduk!" (Mondays, 9pm), in which she stars. During the talk segment, Hashimoto heard her co-star Xu Fengfan's concerns about "finding the right timing to eat the treats he receives," to which she replied, "Don't worry about it, just eat," and added, "I really do eat all the time." Hashimoto is such a "noodle lover" that her co-stars have even commented, "I always seem to eat noodles," and she passionately explained, "I don't like being hungry, so I only eat when I feel hungry. I think that once I'm hungry, it's over," drawing laughter. The drama begins on January 12th.
On the 9th, it was revealed that Natsuki Deguchi and Kaito Sakurai, who both starred in Ao Haru Ride, also based on an original work by Io Sakisaka and broadcast on the same station, will be appearing in the drama series W-30 "Strobe Natsuki Deguchi " (WOWOW, Fridays at 11pm), which began airing on the same day. They will be playing the same roles as in " Ao Haru Ride ." "Strobe Edge" is a love story starring Riko Fukumoto and Kaito Sakurai Kyohei Takahashi of Naniwa Danshi . " Ao Haru Ride Ao Haru Ride," and Sakurai playing the role of Kou Tanaka, in a special collaboration.
