It has been announced that the TV anime "Atelier of Witch Hat" and "Ascendance of a Bookworm: The Lord's Adopted Daughter" will be collaborating. A newly drawn collaboration visual has been released. It depicts the respective protagonists, Coco and Rosemaine, with sparkling expressions, holding their respective key items, the Magic Circle Notebook and a book. Kieffrey and Ferdinand watch over the two from behind, creating a visual where the worldviews of both works intersect.
A conversation between Kamome Shirahama, the original author of "Atelier of Witch Hat," and Miya Kazuki, the original author of "Ascendance of a Bookworm," has been released on the official anime websites for both works, the special websites for the original works, and other platforms. The two, who have long publicly declared themselves fans of each other's work and interact on social media and in their private lives, talk about their impressions of each anime, the charm of the characters, and their approaches to anime adaptation as original authors.
"Atelier of Witch Hat" is based on the manga by Shirahama, which is serialized in "Monthly Morning Two" (Kodansha). The story follows Coco, a girl who longs to be a wizard, as she steps into the mysterious world of magic. The TV anime is currently airing on TOKYO MX and other channels.
"Ascendance of a Bookworm" is based on the light novel "Ascendance of a Bookworm: I'll Do Anything to Become a Librarian," written by Katsuki and illustrated by Shiina Yu, which is popular on the Shosetsuka ni Naro submission site "Shosetsuka ni Narou." The story follows Motosu Urano, who lives in modern Japan, as she dies on the very day she gets her dream job at a library. She then regains consciousness as Myne, a young girl in another world ruled by nobles with magical powers, and struggles to obtain books. "Ascendance of a Bookworm: The Lord's Adopted Daughter" shows Myne choosing to live as Rosemyne, the lord's adopted daughter, in order to protect her family and friends in the lower town. It is currently airing on Yomiuri TV, Nippon TV, and other networks.
