The TV Asahi drama "Okome no Onna - National Tax Agency Document Investigation Division, Miscellaneous Affairs Room" (Thursdays 9pm), starring Nanako Matsushima, attracted attention when it displayed a prize flag at the January Grand Sumo Tournament (Hatsu Basho), which began on January 11th at the Ryogoku Kokugikan (Sumida Ward, Tokyo).
The prize flag features a visual of lead actress Matsushima and an image of theme song singer Saito Kazuyoshi, and was featured in the match between ozeki Kotozakura and top maegashira Yoshinofuji.
According to TV Asahi, this is the first time a commercial broadcaster has displayed a prize flag for a drama at a sumo tournament. The flag will be displayed at matches featuring Yoshinofuji, Asanoyama, and Yasuseishiki from the second day onwards.
On social media, comments such as "A prize flag from a TV Asahi drama was shown on NHK!", "They even have prizes from TV dramas in sumo wrestling!", "Is it okay to have a TV Asahi program on NHK?", "NHK has become so generous," and "Saito Kazuyoshi's prize flag looks more like Saito Kazuyoshi than I thought," have been posted, attracting attention.
