The release date for "Zootopia 2" (directed by Jared Bush), the sequel to the popular Disney animation "Zootopia" released in 2016, has been set for December 5th, and the first stills were released on July 15th. The popular duo Judy and Nick, who have teamed up again, and Gary, the wanted criminal being pursued by Judy and Nick, are somehow looking at the camera together in a friendly manner.
"Zootopia" is set in Zootopia, a metropolis where animals live like humans, and follows the adventures of Judy, a rookie police rabbit, and Nick, a con man and fox who has forgotten his dreams. It won Best Animated Feature at the 89th Academy Awards and Best Animated Feature at the 74th Golden Globe Awards, and became the first Disney animation film since "Frozen" to gross over $1 billion worldwide. It was also a hit in Japan, grossing over 7.6 billion yen.
In the sequel, Nick, who has successfully graduated from police academy and become a police officer, and Judy, the first rabbit police officer, team up again and are more enthusiastic than ever before. One day, Judy and Nick go undercover to search for Gary, a wanted snake who suddenly appears in Zootopia. As their bond is tested more than ever, they uncover a huge mystery surrounding Zootopia's history and embark on an epic adventure on an even grander scale than the first film.
The film will be directed by Jared Bush, who co-directed and wrote the previous film and is now Disney Animation Studios' new Chief Creative Officer, and Byron Howard. It will be released in the US on November 26th.
