An advance screening of "TRIGUN STARGAZE," the final chapter of the new anime "TRIGUN STAMPEDE," based on Yasuhiro Nightow's manga "Trigun," was held in Tokyo on January 10th, with appearances by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, who plays Vash the Stampede, Sakura Ando, who plays Meryl Stryfe, Yoshimasa Hosoya, who plays Nicholas D. Wolfwood, and Chinatsu Ayamori, who plays Milly Thompson.
This was the first time that the four actors, including Matsuoka, appeared together at an event. Matsuoka, who plays Vash, said, "The dubbing took place about two years ago, but the staff has continued to work hard since then, and they've created something truly wonderful. Personally, the dubbing for the first episode of 'STARGAZE' left a strong impression on me, to the point that I was so scared I didn't want to go to the set. Vash's situation at the end of 'STAMPEDE' has changed completely, and the story begins when he's like an empty shell, so I was really worried about how to get him to regain his emotions from that point. However, as I interacted with everyone on set, I felt like the path was suddenly clear."
Ando, who plays Meryl, said with confidence, "In 'STAMPEDE', Meryl was reckless and would say things that others found annoying, but I feel like she's naturally calmed down since she had a junior colleague in Milly. After traveling with Vash and the others in 'STAMPEDE', her horizons broaden and she grows as a person. I had the opportunity to exchange dialogue with Ayamori-chan, who plays Milly, at the audition, and I could tell that she opened up to me right from the start. I think that's why the atmosphere between the two of us is so unique." Ayamori, who plays Milly, added, "I had a lot of fun even when we were exchanging dialogue, and I felt like I was able to relax and do the dubbing. That's why I feel like we were able to create a natural atmosphere, as if we've been together for five or ten years."
Not to be outdone, the men also spoke about how Vash and Nicholas initially quarreled about being a buddy, but that they have overcome their differences and now have a good relationship. Matsuoka said, "They may seem like complete opposites, but Nicholas has something that Vash has, and Vash has something that Nicholas doesn't. They complement each other's shortcomings," to which Hosoya, who plays Nicholas, nodded vigorously.
Finally, Matsuoka spoke passionately, saying, "As Vash recovers, he is reminded of how much his friends have supported him up until now. I hope you enjoy the journey he takes with these friends, and new characters will also appear, each with their own strong backstories. I hope you enjoy 'TRIGUN STARGAZE' to the very end, not just the story, but also the visuals created with the latest technology to the fullest."
"Trigun" is a gun action manga by Naito, who is also known for "Blood Blockade Battlefront," and depicts the pacifist bounty hunter Vash the Stampede, a legendary gunfighter, as he confronts a strange fate in a harsh world. The TV anime series aired in 1998, and the theatrical anime "Trigun the Movie: Badlands Rumble" was released in 2010.
The new anime "TRIGUN STAMPEDE" aired on TV Tokyo and other stations from January to March 2023. "TRIGUN STARGAZE" will begin airing on January 10th at 11pm on TV Tokyo affiliates.
