Ten Yamasaki of the idol group Sakurazaka46 will appear on the program "The Greatest Hits," which will be broadcast on NHK General TV from 11:00 PM on January 10th. The program on this day is an extended 45-minute version titled "Coming of Age Day Special." Ahead of Coming of Age Day on January 12th, the program will look back on the 20 years since the birth of Yamazaki, who is now 20 years old, with hit songs and rare footage.
"The Greatest Hits" will showcase footage of the best performances from NHK's music programs, such as "Let's Go Young," "Pop Jam," and "MUSIC JAPAN," focusing on Japanese pop music from the Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa eras.
The "Coming of Age Day Special" will feature Kumi Koda's "Butterfly," a hit song from 2005, the year Yamazaki was born; Golden Bomber's "Memeshikute," a hit song from 2012, when Yamazaki was in elementary school; Kenshi Yonezu's "Lemon," a hit song from 2018, when Yamazaki was in junior high school; and Aimyon's "Ai ni Shirumade," a hit song from 2021, when Yamazaki was in high school. They will also look back on "Nagaredan," a memorable performance from Yamazaki's appearance at the 72nd NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen in 2021.
On this day, the show's MCs, the comedy duo "New York," also introduced their hit songs from the first 20 years of their career, and at one point Yamazaki was surprised by the hairstyles and performances of artists from before he was born.
After finishing the recording of the program, Yamazaki commented, "It was a lot of fun. It's rare to get the chance to see footage of a music program from before I was born, so it was a rare experience. The hairstyles and such were completely different from now, so I really got a sense of the era."
