Visuals of the three characters from the original unit "Karamazov" that appears in the TV anime "NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE," based on the popular game, were released on January 10th. The cast was also announced, with Rina Kawaguchi playing Purple Lollipop, Shiina Otsuki playing Gokubara Michika, and Hoshi Nozomi Narana playing Nechika-sama. The third key visual featuring Chou Ten-chan and Karamazov was also released.
Kawaguchi, who plays the Karamazovs' leader, the poisonous radio wave girl Purple Lollipop, commented, "I've always loved Chou Ten-chan, so I went to the audition determined to get the role. I'm extremely honored to be involved in this production once again. I will do my best to bring out the best in Lollipop and the charm of the production itself. I look forward to your support."
Shiina, who plays Gokubara Mikekka, a member of Karamazov who dresses in a gothic lolita style, said, "Mikekka was the first character I advanced to a studio audition for. On my way to the studio, I put on my brand new coat with great enthusiasm, but bird droppings fell on it (tears), and I remember wondering if I should take it as luck. When I heard later that I had passed, I was incredibly happy, and I was drawn to her charm from the bottom of my heart, so I am really happy to have been able to play the role of Mikekka, a character I absolutely wanted to play. I still don't have much experience, but I will do more than my best and do my best to play Gokubara Mikekka."
Hoshi Nozomi, who plays Nechika, a member of the Karamazov gang who captivates fans with his piercing gaze, said, "I'm excited to see how the story will unfold in the anime, including us new characters, and I'm doing my best to act in my role while taking into account everyone's high expectations. It's always been my dream to be showered with cheers from girls, so I'm happy to be able to relive that experience through Nechika! Please be sure to check it out!"
Director Masaoki Nakajima, who is working on the anime, commented, "This time, we paid homage to the original author's writing style and aimed to be faithful to the direction of the film. It was also announced that ahead of the TV anime broadcast starting in April, an advance theatrical version, "NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE -OVERTURE-," will be released on March 6th. Episodes from the TV anime have been re-edited for screening, allowing viewers to experience the world of the anime "NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE," which is woven together by Chou Ten-chan and Karamazov.
"NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE" is a multi-ending adventure game that follows the 30 days of a girl with a strong desire for approval as she strives to become the best streamer, and her supporter, "Pi." Released on Steam in January 2022, the game has recorded a total of approximately 3 million downloads. The game is gaining popularity, with related songs being played over 400 million times.
The anime will be produced by Yostar Pictures, the studio behind "Arknights" and "Blue Archive." It will begin airing in April.
