Tonight's episode of "The Isolated House" features a handmade log cabin filled with the romance of a former banker.

"The House in the Middle of Nowhere" (ABC TV/TV Asahi, Sunday 7:58 p.m.) is a variety show that uses satellite photos to find secluded houses. The June 22nd broadcast will focus on the life of a 76-year-old man who built his own log house deep in the mountains of Chiba Prefecture.

The guests were singer Sachiko Kobayashi and TV personality Chiaki Horan. Kobayashi was delighted, saying, "I'm really happy to be here in this studio!" "When I watch the show, I'm really touched, and there are a lot of parts that overlap with me. I'd like to live there, but one month might be my limit," she said, and the studio talk became lively, with topics such as insects.

When the search team showed the satellite photos to residents in the nearest village, they received a reassuring response: "We can tell." The house appeared to be deep in the mountains, far from any human settlements, and when they checked the directions, they found that there was a farm pond halfway up the mountain, and the house was built further in. "It seems to be a place that even locals don't go into.

As instructed, we left the village and entered the mountain path, which became narrower and narrower. Eventually, we saw a reservoir in front of us. From there, the vegetation was so overgrown that we could no longer see the path. There was no sign of human habitation at all. The search team's vehicle entered the brush, and as we pushed our way through the forest, we came across a building that looked like a log cabin.

"I never thought I'd come here," said a 76-year-old man, welcoming us with a bitter smile. He spends half the week here, and lives in two locations, this place and his own home about 85 kilometers away. The man, who used to work as a banker, bought a 1,690m2 plot of land deep in the mountains in his 50s. "I bought this land because I was attracted by the fact that there was no one around," he said.

In his 60s, he built a log house by himself. He had no construction experience and was self-taught. "It was all handmade. I was a beginner, so I didn't have any blueprints. It was just an extension of DIY," he says with a smile.

The stylish mountain hut-style building has a spacious living room, a loft, and a homemade rock bath. What's more, the deck terrace is modeled after the Oshirosu that appears in the TV drama series "Toyama no Kinsan," and it's amazing to know that the owner even built the stone staircase using broken chestnut stones himself.

When the man said, "It's a hobby, I guess," guest Horan seemed impressed and said, "It's a life full of dreams and romance, and it's really wonderful!"
