Motoki Omori of the three-piece rock band Mrs. Green Apple appeared at the red carpet event and stage greeting for the film "#I'llTellYouTheTruth" (released April 25th, directed by Keisuke Toyoshima) held at TOHO Cinemas Roppongi Hills (Minato Ward, Tokyo) on March 17th.
This is Omori's first film appearance and he co-stars with Fuma Kikuchi of the popular group "Timelesz." He said, "This is my first starring role in a film, and it's being made on a scale that I can't even comprehend, but I'm deeply moved and grateful that we've reached the first day when we can deliver the film to you."
When asked how he felt now, he confessed, "It's an emotion I've never felt before. I'm so excited, it's like I can't believe it." He said it's different from the excitement he felt before a live performance, and Kikuchi nodded, saying, "It's different from a live performance where you show the finished product."
Omori said of his impression of Kikuchi, "I thought he was an interesting person, but I also thought he was quite shy and cute at the same time," and reflected on their co-starring, saying, "He welcomed me with open arms, so I was able to relax."
On the other hand, Kikuchi said jokingly about Omori, "I thought he might have some particular preferences and his own rules, but he is actually very flexible and skillful.It was as if he had been filming a different project two months earlier...He first told me that this was his first time acting, and I thought he must have lied (laughs)."
The film is an adaptation of the short story collection of the same name (Shincho Bunko) by mystery writer Yuki Shinichiro. It depicts the story of speakers hoping to get rich quick exposing shocking "truths" in order to gain tips on the viewer-participation live-streaming exposé channel "#I'llTellYouTheTruth." Kikuchi plays Kiriyama, a security guard who is in debt and at rock bottom in life, while Omori plays Suzuki, a mysterious man who develops a friendship with Kiriyama. Omori said, "I think everyone is different, but I thought it was a feel-good movie."
The event also featured appearances by Kikuchi, Ayami Nakajo, Amane Okayama, Riko Fukumoto, Kentaro Ito, Shuntaro Yanagi, Miku Tanaka, Kyoko Saito Yoshitaka Hara, Hideaki Ito, and director Keisuke Toyoshima. With such a popular cast of actors, the lottery draw for the event was said to have been about 140 times more popular.
