Additional cast members for the TV anime "SAKAMOTO DAYS," based on the popular manga by Suzuki Yuto currently being serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha), have been announced, including Mamiya Yasuhiro and Yumi Uchiyama Yumi. Mamiya will play Boyle, a hard-boiled assassin belonging to the Donden-kai who specializes in attacks using bombs and blast waves and whose motto is "I won't take any lives except for my target," while Uchiyama will play Obiguro, a Donden-kai assassin who forms an ultra-fighting duo with Boyle and who is a practitioner of Kosatsu-ryu karate, rumored to have killed over 100 people between them in a conflict two years ago.
Mamiya commented, "A man with sunglasses and a beard, whose main weapon is his fists, and who loves hard-boiled stuff, I felt a sense of romance and sympathy for him as I played the role. My partner Obiguro and I will be pushing this completely spineless bastard Sakamoto and his friends to the brink, so I hope you'll look forward to that! ...Obiguro, oh! You've got blisters from your heels, so you need a band-aid. Put one on."
Uchiyama said, "I play Obikuro, an assassin who belongs to the Donden-kai, an organization of assassins. However, the moment I interact with my partner Boyle and see his hard-boiledness and kindness, my maiden switch flips on and I love how I react so purely, which is very adorable and a stark contrast to my usual self! The atmosphere on set was very homely and I had fun participating from start to finish. Everyone's acting was so funny that it was hard to hold back my laughter during recording (laughs). I hope you'll look forward to seeing how things develop."
The story is about Sakamoto Taro, a former legendary assassin who runs a shop after retiring, who fights with his friends against approaching assassins to protect the peaceful daily life he lives with his beloved family. This much-talked-about Weekly Shonen Jump series is popular for its spectacular battle scenes featuring unique characters, and is also notable for its appearance by a star-studded cast of voice actors, including Nobunaga Shimazaki who can read other people's minds and a subordinate of Sakamoto's from his days as an assassin, and Ayane Sakura, a former mafia member who now works at Sakamoto Shoten. It airs every Saturday at 11pm on TV Tokyo and other networks.
