NHK's documentary program "Document 72 Hours" (General) will be rebroadcasting "At a Small Okonomiyaki Shop in Kobe" as a "selection" from 10:55 pm on January 17th.
The story is set in a small okonomiyaki restaurant in a shopping arcade in Kobe. It is popular with locals, from children to the elderly. Some drop in with friends to eat, others come to buy food for their families. Many also come to enjoy conversations with the staff.
Nagata Ward was once hit hard by the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. This store was also destroyed, but was one of the first to reopen. The camera was set up in the store for three days, and the program looked at the current state of the area as it made its way back to life. The first broadcast will be on January 20, 2023.
The program is a documentary program that sets up a camera at one location each time and observes the various human dramas that occur there for 72 hours. It listens to the stories of people who meet by chance and captures the "present" era.
