NHK's popular nature program "Darwin Has Come!" (General) will be broadcasting a segment titled "Chasing the Arctic! The Mystery of the Fat Polar Bear" from 7:30 pm on August 24th. Polar bears normally lose weight in the summer due to lack of food, but a strangely overweight polar bear has been spotted in the Canadian Arctic. By thoroughly investigating the mystery, it becomes clear that a certain change occurring in the Arctic Ocean is connected to a giant marine creature...
A strange polar bear was spotted in the summer in a cove on the northwestern side of Baffin Island, Canada, in the Arctic Circle.
Normally, in the summer, the bears cannot catch their main food, seals, and there is a food shortage. It is a harsh season in which bears can lose up to 30 kilograms in a month. However, the bears in the cove have stored up a lot of fat and are extremely plump.
What on earth is going on?
