The 75th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen:Part 2 viewership rating of 32.7% surpasses last year's figure; White Team wins for the first time in two years

It was revealed on January 2nd that the average viewer ratings (households) for the 75th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen, broadcast on NHK General TV on December 31st, 2024, were 29.0% (Kanto region, Video Research survey, same below) for Part 1 (from 7:20 pm) and 32.7% for Part 2 (from 9 pm). Although the 32.7% rating for Part 2 exceeded the 31.9% rating in 2023, which was the worst rating since the two-part system was introduced in 1989, it was lower than the 34.3% rating in 2021, making it the second worst rating ever.

The viewership rate for the Kohaku Uta Gassen was recorded at 81.4% in 1963, but has been below 60% since 1986. It has been hovering around 40% since 2004, and in the past five years, it has fluctuated as follows: 34.7% for Part 1 and 37.3% for Part 2 in 2019, 34.2% for Part 1 and 40.3% for Part 2 in 2020, 31.5% for Part 1 and 34.3% for Part 2 in 2021, 31.2% for Part 1 and 35.3% for Part 2 in 2022, and 29.0% for Part 1 and 31.9% for Part 2 in 2023.

The 75th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen will be broadcast on December 31, 2024 from 7:20 pm to 11:45 pm (with some news breaks) under the theme of "Songs for You." The show will be hosted by four people: Hiroiki Ariyoshi, Kanna Hashimoto, Sari Ito, and NHK announcer Naoko Suzuki.

B'z, appearing for the first time, THE ALFEE, appearing for the first time in 41 years, and GLAY, appearing for the first time in 25 years, thrilled the audience, and the White Team won for the first time in two years.
