Ren Meguro of the popular group "Snow Man" appeared at the stage greeting for the completion ceremony of the movie "Hodonaku, Owakaredesu" (directed by Takahiro Miki, opening on February 6th), in which he co-stars with actress Minami Hamabe, held in Tokyo on January 13th.
Actor Kotone Furukawa also appeared at the event. Meguro and Furukawa co-starred in the Fuji TV Getsuku drama "The Beginning of the Sea" (2024), and Furukawa revealed, "The last time we co-starred, and this time too, it started with the scene of my funeral. So (this time) I felt a strange sense of relief, and thought, 'It looks like he'll be able to pass away peacefully.'" Meguro, on the other hand, said with a wry smile, "It's getting tough for me. I don't want to see (the scene of Furukawa's death)."
The original work is the series "Hodonaku, Owakaredesu) (Shogakukan Bunko), Nagatsuki Amane's debut novel, which won the Grand Prize at the Shogakukan Bunko Novel Award and has sold over 400,000 copies. The story is a human drama about a heroine who works at a funeral company and a strict funeral planner who teams up to provide the "best funeral possible."
A funeral planner proposes a funeral that suits the deceased based on the wishes of the bereaved family and handles all the arrangements and procedures. Hamabe plays Shimizu Misora, a new funeral planner who started working as an intern at a funeral company after failing all her job hunting attempts, while Meguro plays Urushibara Reiji, a funeral planner who scouts Misora and gives her strict guidance.
Furukawa plays Yanagisawa Reiko, who loses her life along with her unborn child in an accident when she falls from a footbridge just before giving birth.
Hamabe, Misato Morita, Takumi Kitamura, Keisuke Watanabe, Nonami Maho, Nishigaki Takumi, Kubo Shiori, Suzuki Kosuke, Nagasaku Hiromi, and director Miki also attended the stage greeting.
