According to the movie attendance rankings for January 9-11 released on January 13th (by Kogyo Tsushinsha), Disney animation's "Zootopia 2" (directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard) topped the list for the sixth consecutive week. Over the three-day weekend, it attracted approximately 463,000 people and grossed approximately 654 million yen. Cumulative totals as of January 12th have reached 9.07 million people and box office revenues of over 12.3 billion yen, showing no signs of slowing down.
Among the first-time entries, "Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo," the fifth installment of the "Monthly Eva EVANGELION 30th MOVIE Fest. 2025-2026," a revival screening project of the popular anime series "Evangelion," ranked sixth. "Our Journey: 50 Years," the first film adaptation of the teen drama "Our Journey," starring actor Masatoshi Nakamura, which celebrated its 50th anniversary since its first broadcast, came in seventh.
In second place is "The Last Man -FIRST LOVE-" (directed by Hirano Shunichi), which attracted approximately 115,000 people over the three-day weekend and grossed approximately 161 million yen. As of January 12th, the total has reached 880,000 people and grossed over 1.2 billion yen. "Emergency Interrogation Room THE FINAL" (directed by Tsunehiro Jota) attracted approximately 90,000 people over the three-day weekend and grossed approximately 126 million yen, moving it up two places from the previous week to third place. "Avatar: Fire and Ashes" (directed by James Cameron) came in fourth place, with a cumulative total of 1.14 million viewers and box office revenue exceeding 2.1 billion yen. "National Treasure" (directed by Lee Sang-il) in fifth place has a cumulative total of approximately 13.58 million viewers and box office revenue of approximately 19.1 billion yen.
