It was announced on December 22nd that the movie version of Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc, a sequel to the TV anime Chainsaw Man , based on the popular manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto currently being serialized on Shueisha's manga app Shonen Jump+, will be released in 2025. The film will be released "around the time a typhoon comes." It will be directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara, who was the action director for the TV anime version. A trailer was also released featuring the main character Denji, the mysterious girl Reze, and Makima. The announcement was made at Jump Festa 2025, which is being held at Makuhari Messe (Mihama-ku, Chiba City).
The "Reze" arc will be the story of Reze and the main character, Denji, who also appeared at the end of the TV anime broadcast from October to December 2022, which became a hot topic. Two visuals for the "Reze" arc have also been released. One is a visual of Chainsaw Man full of dynamism in the middle of an explosion, and the other is a visual of Denji chatting with Reze at Cafe Nido.
Director Yoshihara commented, "The entire staff is working hard to convey the appeal of Chainsaw Man to everyone who watches. Please continue to support us!"
Kikunosuke Toya, who plays Denji, said, "I love the Reze chapter! Ever since I read the original work, I thought it would be amazing if this series of emotionally stirring, dizzying developments were made into a movie, so I'm very happy that it will be able to be seen in the cinema as a feature film! Reze is coming...! Reze is coming! I will do my best to act out the scenes where I feel excited about Reze, as well as the high-IQ battle scenes that only Chainsaw Man can do! Look forward to it!"
Reina Ueda, who plays Reze, commented, "I was excited to head to the studio to record the PV first, and during the recording, I heard Toya's voice on the microphone next to me, and exclaimed, 'It's Denji! "Chainsaw Man" is a dark hero action story about a boy named Denji who is possessed by a demon and works as a devil hunter. The first part was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from December 2018 to December 2020. The second part has been serialized in "Shonen Jump +" since July 2022.
It has been gaining popularity, including being ranked first in the men's edition of "This Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2021," a guidebook published by Takarajimasha that ranks the most popular manga of the year. A TV anime series aired from October to December 2022.
