It has been revealed that the second season of the new TV anime "Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf," based on the popular light novel "Spice and Wolf" by Hasekura Isuna, published by Dengeki Bunko (KADOKAWA), will be produced. A new visual of Holo was also released with the tagline "The journey continues." The 25th episode, "The Miracle's Destination and the Continuing Journey," the final episode of the first season, was broadcast on TV Tokyo and other channels late at night on September 23rd, and the production of the second season was announced.
"Spice and Wolf" is a light novel that depicts the journey of a traveling merchant, Kraft Lawrence, and Holo, who is an incarnation of a wolf and is worshiped as the goddess of fertility. It was awarded the Silver Prize at the 12th Dengeki Novel Prize in February 2006, and the series celebrated its 15th anniversary in February 2021. A sequel, Spice and Wolf Spring Log, and a spin-off series, Spice and Wolf New Theory: Wolf and Parchment, have also been published, with the series having sold a total of approximately 5 million copies. It has also been adapted into a TV anime series, with the first season airing in 2008 and the second in 2009.
Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf is the first new TV anime in approximately 15 years since the previous series. The first season was directed by Takahashi Tsuyoshi, who directed the previous series, and directed by Sanpei Sei, who directed the second season of the previous series. Following on from the previous series, Fukuyama Jun plays Kraft Lawrence and Koshimizu Ami plays Holo. The series began airing in April, with the final episode airing on September 23rd.
