It has been announced that the film "You Are a Movie," starring actors Marika Ito and Kai Inowaki, will be released in 2026. The film is an original feature-length film following "At the End of the Droste" and "Don't Run Away, River," a collaboration between the popular theater company Europe Kikaku and the Shimokitazawa cinema Tollywood. Makoto Ueda, president of Europe Kikaku, who has written the screenplays for a number of popular films, including "Summertime Machine Blues" and "The Night Is Short, Walk On Girl," will make his directorial debut with this film. A behind-the-scenes video has also been released.
The setting of this work is the real-life building "Shelbo Shimokitazawa" in Shimokitazawa. The story centers around the movie theater, Tollywood, located on the second floor. Madoka, a playwright in Shimokitazawa, goes to see a movie. Kazuma, who plays in a band in Sangenjaya, also goes to see a movie. An impossible "structure" is created in which the events happening at each of their locations are projected onto the screen as movies. Furthermore, serious problems arise at "Good Heavens" and "Mikazuki Rock," located on either side of the movie theater. Madoka and Kazuma try to use this "structure" to solve the problem, but their movies gradually influence each other, and the situation takes an unexpected turn...
Ito will play the playwright Madoka, and Inowaki will play the band member Kazuma. Other cast members from Europe Kikaku, including Ishida Gota, Kanamaru Shintaro, Sakai Yoshifumi, Kakuta Takashi, Suwa Masaru, Tosa Kazunari, Nagano Munenori, and Fujitani Riko, will also appear.
