The official trailer for the film " The Shuten no ano ko " (directed by Yoshida Kota, scheduled for release on January 23, 2026), starring actors Ami Touma and Nakajima Sena, was released on December 19th.
The film is a live-action adaptation of Yuzuki Asako's debut novel, " The Shuten no ano ko" (Bunshun Bunko), which depicts the fickle friendships and complex emotions of high school girls. It's the entrance ceremony at a private girls' high school. Kiyoko and Natsuko, who have been accepted from junior high school, are approached by a strange girl in blue on their way to school. It's Akari, who has enrolled as an external student from high school. Kiyoko can't help but be drawn to Akari, whose father is a famous photographer and who has lived abroad. Akari is an outsider at school, but is also looked upon with envy. Kiyoko and Akari begin spending time together, and just when she thinks they have become "intimate," she finds Akari's diary... This is the story.
The two main characters, Kiyoko and Akari, will be played by Touma and Nakajima, while their classmates Natsuko and Kyoko will be played by Hirasawa Kokoro and Minami Kotona. Other cast members include Fukagawa Mai and Ishida Hikari.
