The 123rd episode of the NHK Asadora drama series "Bakebake, " starring Akari Takaishi , aired on March 25th (NHK General, Monday-Saturday, 8:00 AM, etc.). In that episode, there was a scene in which Eliza (Charlotte Kate Fox) explodes in anger at Toki (Takaishi), which drew various reactions from viewers.
One day, Eliza visits Toki after learning of Heaven's ( Tommy Bastow) death. As Joe (Rairin Sugita) acts as interpreter, Toki says, "I think I was able to write a bestseller in the end and leave some good memories of Tokyo," which makes Eliza's expression harden. Eliza explains that "KWAIDAN" hasn't sold well, hasn't been well-received, and that Westerners don't even know how to pronounce it.
Toki is shaken by what Eliza tells her about the "true reputation" of "KWAIDAN" in America. Eliza is frustrated that Heaven ended up writing a collection of folktales that even children could read. Toki says, "I'm sorry," "It's my fault," "I asked my husband... to write a book I could read..." Eliza can no longer contain her anger and slams her hand on the table, crying and ranting, "It was a crucial time for him as a bestselling author! It was his last chance to silence those who say he's finished!" "I can't believe it... It's ruined. Do you understand? He's ruined everything..."
As Eliza hurried away, Joe chased after her and said, "It's not Otoki's fault. I think the teacher always wanted to write ghost stories." Then Eliza said, "Could you have Otoki write them instead?"
She continued, "A novel... no, a memoir... Yes, a memoir. You'll have her write it. Become her literary assistant, just like your brother. There must be something only Otoki can write," she said to Jo, and then left, saying, "It's for Lefkada. I'll be waiting."
On social media, comments included: "Eliza's getting way too angry...", "I understand how Eliza feels", "Eliza has a final boss vibe", "I can't believe there's going to be a twist at this point", "Only two episodes left...is it ending!?", and "I can't believe the final week is going to be such an emotional rollercoaster." Other comments included: "Did she instigate it?", "Is this a parallel to when Nishikori instigated Heaven?", "Eliza reminds me of Nishikori that day", and "She instigated it...Eliza instigated it. Good luck, Literary Assistant Jo-kun."
