Actor Yuto Nakajima, known as a huge Star Wars fan, appeared at the unveiling ceremony for the "Return of the Silver Star Wars Snow Sculpture" held on February 3rd at the venue (Chuo Ward, Sapporo) of the Sapporo Snow Festival, which began the following day. In front of the large snow sculpture featuring characters from the new Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu (directed by Jon Favreau), which is scheduled for release this year, Nakajima excitedly commented, "Isn't this just amazing?"
The snow sculpture is a massive 20 meters wide, 13 meters high, and 15 meters deep, featuring the Mandalorian and Grogu. Nakajima expressed his joy, saying, "It really feels like it's jumped out of the movie. I'm truly honored to be able to see it up close."
Also appearing at the event was astronaut Soichi Noguchi, who, like Nakajima, is a Star Wars ambassador. Two snowtroopers also made an appearance, livening up the event.
The film "Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu" begins five years after the death of Darth Vader and the collapse of the Empire. The Mandalorian, a ruthless, lone bounty hunter who adheres to his family's strict code of secrecy and completes any job with perfection, accepts a job. The job is to deliver Grogu, also known as "The Child," who possesses immense Force powers and is said to be a world-changing entity, alive to the client. The Mandalorian initially handed Grogu over in exchange for a large reward, but sensing a mysterious connection, he breaks his family's rules and rescues Grogu. During their journey, the two gradually develop a bond like that of father and son. However, they are pursued by remnants of the former Imperial Army, desperate to obtain Grogu's powers at all costs... This is the story. The film will be released simultaneously in Japan and the United States on May 22, 2026.
